No. FTP transfers are handled over a local network and no data reaches the internet. This allows a user to host a server on their local hotspot even if they don't have a data plan.

If the camera supports FTP transfer (many modern Sony, Canon, and Nikon bodies do), the camera will work with the app. If you have any issues with connectivity, get in touch.
Yes. FTP usernames and passwords are stored in the iOS Keychain. They never leave your device.
